Position Description

The Salisbury Sinfonietta seeks a Director of Development to grow this part-time
pro bono position into a full-time paid position. The Director reports to the
Founding/Artistic Director. The position is currently available and will remain open
until filled. Housing may be available during the start-up phase for this position.


As minimum qualifications, the applicant will have collegiate course work preparing
for success in development, relate well to potential donors, possess a passion for
orchestral music, have strong organizational skills, and work in a collaborative
manner. Preferred qualifications are a bachelor’s degree in a related field and
development experience for non-profit arts organization.


Create and implement a comprehensive development plan including membership
campaign, corporate sponsorships, program advertising, ticket sales, yearly
fundraiser, grants.

Salisbury Sinfonietta Description

Founded in 2015, the Salisbury Sinfonietta is a chamber orchestra in Salisbury
located in the Berkshire Mountains in northwest Connecticut hiring the finest area
orchestral musicians on a per-service basis. The Salisbury Sinfonietta Inc. has the
501(c)(3) non-profit status. The 2017-18 season includes performances in the
Bushnell Center in Hartford, and in New York City. Short-term plans include
performances in France, England, Korea, and Japan.
The town of Salisbury is located in a region with a dynamic arts scene;
internationally recognized programs include Tanglewood, Jacob’s Pillow, numerous
summer stock program, museums, and galleries. The Salisbury Sinfonietta is the
only chamber orchestra in the region.
